Efficient separation of iron particles during the processing of solid alternative fuels (TAP) in a cement plant

A cement plant in Germany was looking for a reliable solution for the separation of ferrous particles from solid alternative fuels (TAP).

Initial status

Solid alternative fuels contain various types of waste, incl. iron tramp that can cause mechanical damage to transport systems and combustion devices. That is why a reliable separation of ferrous metals was to be ensured. Due to the high hourly processing capacity and intense magnetic contamination a magnetic separator with automatic cleaning had to be chosen.

Solution

After performing an analysis of the material flow and cement plant requirements, the magnetic drum MBZ 506 F 1000 ATEX was installed. This high-performance equipment enables the continuous separation of ferrous particles without a need of interruption of the the material flow.

We made the equipment to measure. Due to the high processing capacity, we chose a drum diameter of 506 mm and a length of 1,000 mm. The magnetic drum is equipped with ferrite magnets.
