Limestone Crusher Protection (case study)
Initial status:
Excavated limestone is transported on a conveyor. During mining and subsequent processing of limestone, it is contaminated with ferromagnetic impurities (screws, nuts, large ferromagnetic impurities, etc.). The occurrence of these impurities is occasional - but if they get into the limestone crusher, there is a risk of damage to it, production shutdown, and costly crusher repair.
Separation aim:

Industry: Lime works
Medium to be separated: Limestone
pose of the separation was to protect the limestone crusher.
Application:
The customer required a strong magnetic separator to be installed at a predetermined location – above the conveyor transporting the limestone to the crusher. Since the occurrence of ferromagnetic impurities is small, there was no need to install an overband magnet with automatic cleaning. Therefore, we suggested the customer use a suspended magnet with manual cleaning. It can reliably capture the required dirt and thus protect the crusher from damage. Dirt is removed from the suspended magnet manually, which is not burdening for the operator due to the small dirt amount.
Result:
After the DND-MC suspended magnet installation, there was no damage to the crusher by ferromagnetic contaminants. By doing this, the goal of separation was fulfilled. The customer also appreciated the favorable price of the installed equipment.
