  • Original design based on matrixes made of permanent magnets
  • Very attractive price in comparison with the electromagnetic version
  • Minimum operating costs
  • Capture of submicron magnetic particles
  • Separators can be loaned
  • Made-to-measure separators

Wet high intensity permanent magnetic separators MX-MC

The high gradient magnetic separator MX-MC fitted with the strongest neodymium magnets is destined for separation of fine magnetic and paramagnetic impurities from liquid or semi-liquid materials.

How does permanent WHIMS work?

The permanent matrix separator MX-MC comprises a box with standard flanges, the magnetic system (consisting of neodymium magnets) and the matrix cassette. While the material goes through the matrix (filled with magnetic stainless steel wool), the very intensive magnetic field (generated with extremely strong neodymium magnets) gathers ferromagnetic contaminants inside the matrix (the secondary advantage of this separator is the fact that the stainless steel wool operates as a mechanical sieve at the same time and it is therefore able to catch also small non-magnetic particles).

We will convince you of the high efficiency of our matrix separator! We will test your material free of charge and provide you with a test report. Contact us - we will get in touch with you and arrange the details. You only need to supply a sample of the material to be tested. Leave the rest to us

Which way is wet high intensity magnetic separator cleaned?

During the cleaning the cartouche is pulled out from the separator and can be either repeatedly used (after washing off e.g. with power water) or it may be replaced with a new one (if the stainless steel wool is clogged or highly contaminated).

This high intensity magnetic separator is characterized by the following advantages

  • very high effectiveness of the separation,
  • the ability to catch also very fine ferromagnetic particles (already from approx. 1 μm),
  • strong magnetic induction inside the separative matrix,
  • deep magnetic field,
  • minimum operating and maintaining costs,
  • very interesting price alternative to the electromagnetic matrix separators (WHIMS and HGMS type)
  • compared to the classical grid separators (that are presently used most often for removing fine ferromagnetic impurities from liquid materials), the matrix separator is more effective; (the magnetized steel wool is in more intensive contact with the material flow in contrast to only several magnetic tubes of the classical magnetic separator); in addition, a strong magnetic field will be generated around filament of the matrix. And furthermore, sharp edges of the thin stainless steel wires enhance the gradient magnitude (the function is similar to that of a classical horseshoe shaped magnet, where the most iron particles are caught at the pole edges as well),
  • another advantage of the matrix separator is its resistance against the abrasion, because - unlike the grid separators (the stainless steel tubes of which can be easily damaged either with the material flow or when handling the magnetic cores) even a highly abrasive material has no negative influence on stainless steel wool in the matrix cartouche,
  • the appliance is available in a wide range of connecting diameters,
  • simple robust construction,
  • simple and quick cleaning,
  • when compared with electromagnetic versions, the matrix separator can be characterized as an energetically economical appliance (it needs no electric power to its operation),
  • wide range of applications.

High-intensity magnetic filter for a continual operation

To ensure a continuous material processing (without a flow interruption during the cartouche cleaning) two or more matrix MX-MC separators can be inserted into the pipe system. Upon a special request, this separator can be also equipped with a built in mechanical sieve ensuring that no bigger pieces of material or contaminants can get into the separator.

The correct configuration of separator is important

Therefore, the capacity of the matrix separator depends on the supposed application and also on the basic selective parameters (cartouche volume, speed of material flow, magnetic induction, type and density of stainless steel wool). These parameters are judged and evaluated by the firm SOLLAU at each demand individually (if needed, also by laboratory tests - this evaluation is especially important in case of materials, highly contaminated with ferromagnetic contaminants.) and the the client is always offered the best solution meeting his/her specific needs.

Which industrial branches can the wet high intensity magnetic separator be used in?

  1. Separation of undesirable ferromagnetic and paramagnetic impurities (e.g. biotite, muscovite, garnet, iron silicates, minerals with iron impurities etc.) from non-metallic materials like silica sand, apatite, clay, talcum, feldspar, nepheline, china clay, barite, graphite and other refractional materials, bauxite, coal and phosphate mixtures etc.
  2. Upgrading and extraction of metal magnetic minerals as e.g. hematite, limonite, manganese ore, chromite, tungsten, zinc, tantalum, niobium, nickel, molybdenum, pyrrhotine and other lightly magnetic materials.
  3. Separation of undesirable magnetic impurities from non-magnetic metal materials (e.g. galenite, sphalerite, etc.).
  4. Preliminary cleaning mineral mixtures (gold, platinum etc.).

Matrix separators are used especially when mining and processing minerals, as well as in the chemical and ceramic industries.
