Affordable tailor-made solution: elimination of complaints in the production of plastic cups (case study)
Initial status
A manufacturer of plastic cups had to deal with a high number of quality complaints. There were 10 to 20 complaints a month caused by metal contamination of the finished cups. These contaminations have led to high costs and deterioration in customer relationships.
Problem
Due to a random presence of metallic contaminants (magnetic and non-magnetic) in plastic cups, entire deliveries were often reclaimed. The manufacturer was therefore looking for a reliable and affordable metal detection solution. It was necessary to install detectors on all production lines.
Solution
At SOLLAU, we designed a solution exactly according to the customer's requirements. We used the METRON 05 CR gravity metal detector, which is commonly used to detect metals in gravitationally transported material. This detector offers superior detection quality at an attractive price.
The detector including the control unit was placed on a frame, which ensures autonomous detector operation. The plastic cups pass through the detector aperture where they are checked for the presence of metal particles before entering the next production process.
After successful tests, we delivered a larger number of these detection devices. We have fulfilled the customer's requirement - to implement a top metal detector into the production process at an attractive price!
