Spanish sugar refinery has increased its production quality: TARANTULA 4-stage self-cleaning magnetic separator in action (case study)
A Spanish sugar refinery faced a problem of excessive occurrence of magnetic contaminants in raw materials. These could negatively affect the final product quality and the operation of the production facilities. The three old magnetic separators used up to that time could no longer meet the capacity and efficiency requirements imposed on magnetic separation.
Initial status
During the processing of sugar cane, ferrous particles of up to 1.5 mm were getting into the material. The old separators could not capture them effectively enough. The sugar refinery therefore decided to invest in modern magnetic separation technology that would ensure higher efficiency and automatic cleaning without interrupting the material flow as well.
Solution
Our company proposed to replace the obsolete separators with modern self-cleaning grate magnets MSSJ-AC 300 TARANTULA and MSSJ-AC 400 TARANTULA.
These devices were designed for:
- Capacity 50 t/h and iron contaminants of 0,6 mm (MSSJ-AC 400 TARANTULA)
- Capacity 40 t/h and iron contaminants of 1,5 mm (MSSJ-AC 300 TARANTULA)
These new separators have replaced three old machines. After only 2-month operation they were proven to work without any problems.
