Detailed description of ECS Eddy current separator

Easy maintenance

Each device requires maintenance. However, we are aware of the need to minimize the time required for this maintenance. That is why we have manufactured our separator so that the conveyor belt can be changed easily and very quickly. The time required for the belt change is in the order of minutes. The exchange procedure is very simple even for the separator attendant. Thus, there is no need for a professional service technician which reduces separator servicing costs.

Automatic lubrication of bearings

The bearings and housings of the magnetic rotor are lubricated by an automatic lubrication system controlled by PLC. Easy setting the lubrication interval or lubrication interrupt in the control PLC, e.g. when the separator is switched off or the line is shut down. In the case that the lubricant content falls below the required value, a light signal directly on the lubrication capsule and in the control system notifies the operator to replace the lubrication cartridge (normally available).

The bearings of the driven roller of the conveyor belt are maintenance-free under normal operating conditions. They can be relubricated by standard lubricants if necessary.

Distribution module with an additional flap

Distribution module with an additional flapThe key to a good separator function is the correct setting of the flap separating the already separated material parts from each other. That is why we have made a real effort to ensure the proper function of this flap and its easy control. The position of the distributing flap can be smoothly adjusted in two axes. Its angle can also be adjusted. This makes it easy to set up the separator for the best possible separation results.

The separator can also be equipped with an additional flap, which is located at the bottom of the distribution module. The use of this flap is important in operations where both fractions (non-magnetic metals and inert material) must be 100% pure. We adjust the distribution flap so that the separated non-magnetic metals are completely free of inert material. At the same time, we adjust the additional flap so that the inert material is completely free of non-magnetic metals. In this way, we get 2 completely clean fractions. The rest of the material (inert material with a small admixture of non-magnetic metals), can be re-separated to achieve perfect purity of both fractions.

Eddy Current Separator Efficiency

We thoroughly test the efficiency of every separator produced. Eddy Current separators are also tested for their ability to separate non-magnetic metals. We use 20 x 20 mm, 10 x 10 mm, and 5 x 5 mm aluminum and brass sheets for testing.

The ECS-E separator can separate these impurities from 1 x 1 mm in both materials (aluminum and brass).

Videos from these tests can be found in the Capturing Standards tab.

We take pride in the fact that our products perfectly meet your needs. That is why we offer our customers,

Free testing of the material to be sorted on our separators. Based on these tests, we then design the most suitable device.

Conditions for ensuring the proper functioning of non-ferrous metal separators

Sorting lineSince the magnetic field range of this separator type is relatively short, care must be taken to spread the lowest possible material layer on the conveyor belt of the separator. It is important that the approximate material height on the belt corresponds to the material fraction and forms a uniform monolayer. The material should also fall on the belt preferably in a loose state. All this can be achieved, e. g., by a vibratory feeder or other special elements for good material distribution on the belt.

A centrally embedded rotor creates a high risk of damage to the belt and the roller itself from a ferromagnetic particle trapped by the rotor's magnetic field. Therefore, especially with centric separators, care must be taken to remove the Fe particles before the material enters the conveyor belt. Use a magnetic drum, roller, and plate, or a combination of these to separate unwanted metal particles.
